It took so long today to get all the furniture moved out, either to people who purchased it and were waiting until we were ready to leave or waiting for Habitat for Humanity to show up and grab what we were donating to them, that after we finished packing up the motor home it was too late to leave. Not to mention we're way to tired and sore and I didn't feel like driving at night. So, we are still in the driveway and plugged into the house for power. Will get up early, go up to the house, let the dogs run and shower. Once done I'll wrap up the shore power, hook the generator to the house circuit and off we will go.
Left my dsl running and my wifi router on so we can still have high speed internet until we leave. I'll pack that stuff up in the morning. Using our new satellite dish and it was a breeze to get up and running. Just pushed the on switch and sat back while it did it's thing. So, we're watching NICIS on USA in HD and it's wonderful. Seems just like sitting in the living room, just more crowded..LOL. I'll be offline more than online for the next few days until we reach Tombstone, then, when hooked up to the parks wifi I'll be around more often.
I'll be starting a new thread at The RV Lovers home page so if you want to follow us I'll be posting more of our travels and photos over there.

With an early enough start I hope to get 10 hours of driving before we land for the night. Of course if we find a neat place to spend the night we might stop earlier. No real time table we have to adhere to.

Greg and Chris....Enjoy your journey down to AZ!! Just for future reference, as far as using the J to fill tanks. We have a terrible time with getting water in the the winter time. Down south shouldn't be a problem, but if you go anywhere north of I20 in the winter, it's a problem.
If we make it to AZ, we'll give you a shout!

We stopped in a J in Missouri and no problem at all. Weather is in the 50's and are at an RV park in Carthage, MO. $15 for the night for a full hook up and free WiFi. Hope to make Oklahoma tomorrow or farther if possible. I"ll have to check the map as see how far it is. No problems, and the RV is running great after all the work we had done.

Greg..if at all possible..while you and Chris are in Carthage, Mo you really should visit the Precious Moments Chapel. It's awesome. It doesn't take all that long to go through the whole thing and it's well worth the time.

To update. We stopped at the "J" in OKC and had a nice lunch with "Chaplain". What a great person he is. We really enjoyed our short time with him and if we get through there again we'll certainly take time out to get together with him again. Unfortunately, Dutchman1 had a funeral he had to attend we we didn't get to meet him. Next time through.
We are going to try and make Tombstone tomorrow, but I'm not sure it will happen.

Good to hear you made it south of ABQ....and there are still some affordable RV parks to visit...
Look forward to hearing about the Tombstone area of Arizona too. I imagine part of the interesting experiences of RV traveling is the other RV folks you meet too especially once you park for a month or so...

Greg, I have business to attend to almost all week next week so it will be next weekend (Saturday) before I will be able to make it to Tombstone to meet you and Chris. That will give you two a little time to get settled in though and see a few of the sites before I get there.
Give me a call or I will call you before I come to visit to make sure you and Chris haven't made any other plans.

Not a problem Judy. We will be in the Tombstone RV park by then, as the one we are heading for right now didn't have an monthly spots left. Once we are there I'll let you know the lot number, etc. Most of this week will be filled with nosing around Tombstone and seeing the sights. Once that's done we will just settle in and enjoy being away from the cold and blizzards.

Hey guys, we finally made Tombstone about 4:30pm MST today. The park is crowded, but very quiet and very dog friendly. The other great thing about it is it's right in the center of town. Perfect location for walking around and visiting everything. Also, both The Ghost Hunters and Ghost Lab have been here researching a couple of the supposed haunted sites. Going to be a fun winter!

That's awesome Greg! I'm glad you made it OK. You are going to have a blast. The Ghost Hunters have been there several times in the past checking out the buildings and area. Actually found a few things while there especially in the Bird Cage Theater. That place was jumping from what they showed on the show they did about it.
Be sure you schedule the ghost tour they have. It's a night tour and they take you to all the haunted places in Tombstone. It is AWESOME!

More recently the Ghost Lab was here also and investigated the same buildings along with the mine. Today, if it's not raining, we plan on doing just a walk around the town to get aquainted with it. I want to check out the Ghost Hunters web site and see if the have that episode posted. Will do the same for Ghost Lab.
Now we just have to get our one dog to quit waking us up at 5:00am to go out. Little brat is the one that normally didn't get out of bed until really late in the morning and then just crawled under the blanket on the couch for most of the morning.

Yeah That MINE was one heckuva scary place.Boot Hill looks to be pretty awesome at night too.
Im not too sure about that Birdcage place i heard it was kinda rigged for some of those effects, But..who knows.
Not to sure about them Ghost Lab boys..that one kinda gets on my nerves with all his yelling and challenging. I REALLY didnt like that when they were on that Battleship a few weeks back. Seemed VERY disrespectful IMHO.

I agree Blu. I don't like the Ghost Lab guys either. I prefer the Ghost Hunter team (TAPS)
Much more respectful and professional about it.
The Ghost Hunter team (TAPS) investigated the Bird Cage Theater and didn't find anything rigged but did find a few very interesting happenings in there that they couldn't disprove as being paranormal. Like music and card shuffling, talking etc coming from the poker room when no one was in there. Cool place.
I would really like to see a Ghost Hunter (TAPS) show of them investigating the Mine. That would be really good I bet.

I agree on the Ghost Lab. I do not like those guys at all. Very pushy and if you notice, they ALWAYS find paranormal activity no matter where they go. TAPS on the other hand, quite often come up empty after they disprove most of the claims. They go in to disprove, while GL goes in to prove, big difference.
Had a quick rain storm this morning with heavy winds, but it's turned out quite nicely now.

We've spent our first full day in Tombstone and what a neat little tourist trap...LOL. Prices are very high for groceries, but there's a Walmart about 18 miles north of us, so we will do our major shopping there.
All we did today was just some housekeeping, laundry and a short walk around town to see where everything was. Stopped in at the Bird Cage, which has been investigated by both the Ghost Hunters and Ghost Lab due to it's haunting claims. Both groups found evidence to back up the haunting stories. It's a really neat little place and we intend to take their tour before we leave for the summer. Visited the original Town Marshall's office and chatted with them for a little bit. It's all of 1 room and a holding cell. Saw the saloon where the Earps, Clantons and McLourys hung out but didn't go in, yet. Actually, only the adobe facade and some columns are the original as it burned once in 1882 and again in 1924.
It's a lovely setting, though, as I look out the window at the mountains. We are rapidly falling in love with the area and may just keep staying here as a base camp. Cost of the lot is less than I had planned and the weather is great. It's currently 4pm and 52 outside. In Michigan it's 34! High wind watch tonight and tomorrow, with the possibility of some more rain showers. A lot better than the ice pellets forecast in Michigan.

I knew you would love the place Greg. As I type this we have a hellacious rain storm blowing through Tucson. Yep..it does come gully washers in the desert LOL! The wind has been blowing really hard since about 5 pm or so now the rain has blown in along with it. One thing I don't have to worry about here is tornadoes..that allows me to completely enjoy the storm that is blowing outside right now.
The prices in Tombstone are pretty high. We never buy much there because of that. You do need to try to eat one time at Big Nose Kate's saloon though..awesome atmosphere and really good food.
Matter of fact..I may just take you and Chris there for lunch Sat. I will see how my finances look.

We got your wind in the middle of the night along with rain. It really was shaking the home around. At one point I almost got up to lower the dish as I wasn't sure how it would react to winds. No problems though. Woke up to ice on everything...LOL

Sounds like ya'll are getting settled in. You'll love the desert, as hot as it gets in the daytime, it cools off at night.
Just a tip, make sure you have water with you at all times. It's amazing just how dehydrated you can get quickly. We learned that while living in NM.

You should try living in Colorado Springs. At 6000' you get dehydrated very fast and the fact it's near the desert, well, we'd get some very hot wind coming out of the south. We had grass, if you could call it that, but no on was allowed to water enough to really make it green. Temps in the summer there ranged from 90+ during the day to 40 at night. You learned to never leave the house in the late afternoon without a light jacket.
