His guess was it has to do with the turndown in our economy and the loss of thousands of independent or small company truckers from our highways...

If the larger fleets are now the majority of trucks still on the road...they might have to get more creative to find tickets to write to meet their "production quotas"... maybe even to keep their jobs... or their trooper/police car...

I noticed locally that we seem to have more motorcyle and bicycle police on duty... bicycling policemen seems like a good idea to me... as long as I do not have to ride a bike in full police attire... It does seem to make a policeman more accessible and hopefully communicating with the district he is assigned to oversee... such as a downtown commercial district or a university campus...saw a bicycle policeman in a major outside mall area the other day... going down the elevator with it ... guess he did not want to lock it up... or maybe he was just moving from one level to another...

Anyway.... hopefully you all OTR and regional truckers are on the alert ...the police in Michigan, Penn, or wherever may be looking for any excuse to write you a ticket of late... how about if your tiedown straps are an inch to far apart or your mudflaps are torn on the trailer???
Maybe someone can give me an answer....
When i run across the pads for a weigh in motion scale I will often get an ok to bypass scale and then get a red light to pull in after I pass the sign that just told me to bypass the scale. Other times I'll get truck must exit to scale (happens also with bobtail), then get a green light on my i pass. I thought maybe I was to close to the truck in front of me but it's happened with no trucks around also. I always pull in when in doubt but always wonder which to believe.. the I pass or the sign. Can anyone get me an answer for this?

OOIDA v. C.R. He hauls their trailers and was hooked to one at the time and said the company wasn't getting it back till he was paid in full for the trip he was doing now and the two trips before.

I got to thinking about it and am wondering if the guy can do that legally. Obviously the trailers are in the companies name and their tags are on them and probably their name on the sides of the trailers.

The company can just call the police and report it stolen or tell them the circumstances have them put out an APB(watch too many cop shows) for him. Right?
