We especially would like to have journals done by drivers in training.<br>

CSA 2010 is in trial in 6 states already... and replaces SafeStat for FMSCA tracking of trucking and bus company roadside inspections and accident safety data ... Supposedly the idea is to increase road safety of big trucks and commercial buses.

Olen's concern is that points assessed will drop off a company record, if the driver is terminated.
Too many violations...your fault or not..such as poorly maintained company equipment... Removing the driver from the ccmpany payroll will improve their CSA score...

The flip side...it may increase the value of a CDL driver with a good safety record to be in greater demand...maybe higher wages and better benefits... Also, it should cut down on running illegal... too great a risk for the driver... any and all violations count for both you and your company.

I have not read much about this from a driver perspective...most of the focus now seems to be on the management/company preparation for the upcoming changes...

Officially Part time coach driver

Attended my first bus company safety meeting on Monday night... They briefly discussed my recent safety incident with bus "tail wag"... scraped right upper rear of bus on a tree limb at OKC Marriott Hotel...The overall mandatory safety meeting was good...managed to see most of the 40+ company drivers for the first time...

Those tree lined narrow driveways near the Hotel look good if you are not driving a big coach in the area... Our buses stick out about 12 ft beyond the main rear axle... about 3 ft of rear swing with a sharp turn...

Also, I was selected for a "random" drug screen as of yesterday too... some drivers have all the "luck". Good news I know that I can pass any drug screen for illegal drugs...

Finally, I advised my new boss...I need to switch to part time status with weekends off for the next few weeks... Our middle son and his family are moving from OKC to San Diego area for a new job this summer ...basically as soon as their house sells here.. July-Sept time frame... I hope to spend a little more time with them and the grand daughters while they live close to us... 30 miles away vs 1400 miles away...

It will probably not be good for me pay wise...but no more trips than I have had this past month... I may not even notice a pay difference... Hopefully I will get fewer "graveyard" shift runs too... I am also hoping to do some sailing this summer too with 3 days off each week....
I got a call at 4:15 pm yesterday...my new dispatcher asking me if I could make a "cushion" run out of Denton, TX starting about 3 am?? Duh...me --new bus driver never been on a coach trip before--??

As it turned out, I had just woke up from a
2 hour nap....and told him --Yes... I and another driver who was meeting another company bus at Denton left about 5 pm in a rental car ... for the "pony express" relay... Apparently the bus driver who was scheduled to make the run...was a "no show...no call in" guy at 3 pm planned departure from OKC ...

We got down to Denton about 9 pm...checked into the Motel 6 for a " 5 hour nap" and then a wake up to drive the relay buses into OKC... girl's university softball team on board enroute back from a tournament in Mississippi...

Hopefully I will get more notice in the future of scheduled runs... As Fireret would say the "Adventure" continues...

To my surprise they don't know how to read a settlement sheet or how to add up there cost per mile! I can help them with both of them.

My question would be is there any body that can help them learn how to do business that they need to know.

I have been out of the truck for 12 years. I have talked to owner operators I know and have gotten info from them, need some place to send then to refer them to.
